19 Feb 2016

European passenger car registrations grew 6.2% in January, compared with 2015, according to ACEA statistics released this week. 1,061,150 units were registered across Europe last month, making it the 29th consecutive month of growth in the region.

Registrations were up across all five major markets once again, although Italy and Spain performed particularly strongly, with demand growing 17.4% and 12.1% respectively. France (+3.9%) and Germany (+3.3%) experienced smaller increases, while Britain’s new car market posted a 2.9% increase on the previous year, following record breaking car registrations in 2015. ACEA reported that the results were encouraging, indicating that the upward market trend remains stable.
