The Motor Vehicle Registration Information System (MVRIS) is a database of new vehicle registration details in the UK for cars and commercial vehicles (less than 6 tonne gross vehicle weight). (Motorcycles and agricultural vehicles are outside the scope of MVRIS as these are handled by separate trade associations: MCIA and AEA respectively).
For commercial vehicles and buses/coaches of 6 tonne gross vehicle weight and over, SMMT has a new data service from 2016 onwards.
SMMT’s registration figures provide valuable insight to the UK vehicle market. On the fourth working day of each month, new vehicle registration figures are released on the SMMT web site, split by make and vehicle type.
Detailed analysis of the figures can be purchased through SMMT’s Automotive Information Services (AIS) department via the links below, including regional / postcode information, sales type (private / fleet / business), CO2 emissions, etc.
